I am glad to report that our big old tv has finally gone to its final resting place! We have been dying to get a flatscreen but waited to our other one bit the dust. So this meant out with the old and in with the new.We decided on a 64″ flatscreen plasma that we attached to the wall with wires hidden-(which I insisted on) and we love it- especially to watch those Red Sox!! We then had the dilemma of what to do with the big entertainment center. The depth of it would block side views of the tv- (God Forbid!)
So, I decided to re-purpose the side cabinets and make it part of my kitchen. First I removed the glass doors then I painted the cabinets AnnieSloan Pure White paint, did some distressing and put a coat of clear wax on over that. My thought was to have the cabinets on each side of window with my vintage French bench between the cabinets and would serve as nice sitting area.
I think it turned out great and provides extra seating in the kitchen as well. Does the faux wood on the back of shelves look familiar?
This brilliant idea came from Kari Anne from Thistlewood Farms- I have been waiting to have a project to use that paper- it looks sooooo real, awesome!
I added some Fall decor to the shelves and called it a day.
Cant wait to be able to add some Christmas dinnerware. We ended up getting a entertainment console for under the tv from – wait for it…..Home Goods for a great price.
And finally, a new runner.
Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you!
